Shakespeare Classes and Workshops

Tony Rive has been an avid theatre-maker for over thirty years, with his love of performing Shakespeare evolving to include directing and teaching. He has worked for the Australian Shakespeare Co (ASC) for 24 years, where he teaches and directs, in addition to working with Corrugated Iron Youth Arts, Complete Works, Darwin Theatre Co, and his own venture, taiNTed Theatre. Tony's stage appearances include Andrew Aguecheek in 'Twelfth Night,' Touchstone in 'As You Like It,' and Flute/Demetrius in 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' (ASC), Banquo in 'Macbeth' (Arthouse & ASC), Iago in 'Othello' and Buckingham in 'Richard III' (Aardvark), 'Measure For Measure' (Equipoise), Ferdinand in 'The Tempest' and Horatio in 'Hamlet' (Merri Shakespeare), Petrucchio in 'The Taming of the Shrew' (taiNTed), and is currently rehearsing for Titania and Theseus in Sevenfold's production of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream.' Along with facillitating Shakespeare workshops for young students and presenting to schools for the ASC, Tony has run classes for Howard Fine, Darwin Community Arts, and Corrugated Iron. He has also created show-specific training for taiNTed's production of 'The Taming of the Shrew' and 'As You Like It', Corrugated Iron's 'Love’s Labours Lost,' and tutors auditionees for NIDA, VCA, and Bell Shakespeare.
