In Schools Program - Acting for Screen
-Running any school term to suit

What is it?

An intensive Acting for Screen program where school students learn what it's like on a real film set. The guidance and direction from our teachers is for the students as individuals and where they are right now on their journey. Acting is never one size fits all. The industry and audiences need actors as diverse as society itself to tell our communities' stories authentically - this is about their journey as a performer, regardless of what level they are at, which in turn is about their journey as a young person.
Included in this School's program package:
x2 at school Incursion rehearsal sessions.
These sessions are spent breaking down a scene, working through character, blocking, working with their scene partners through the space and text. We come to the school and work in the arts space either in school performing arts periods, or after school times.
( Scheduled to suit the school )
x1 in excursion session at GormanWorks Screen Acting Studio in Balwyn North.
This session is spent in the set, blocking, shooting, watching playback, and then putting all those skills into play again by shooting a new scene where the students are utilizing everything they've learnt in the past sessions, into a more true tv/film set timeline of rehearsing and shooting.
( Flexible days and hours to suit the students. Minimum 4 hour session, preferable 6 hour day )
Travel to and from the venue is organised by the school or the individual students
Playback link.
The link to the scenes is then shared with the students so they can watch again with family and/or teachers. This link is not a public link and is not to be shared on any social media or other platforms. The link and its contents will then be deleted at the end of the term.
The cost -
This package costs $3000 (incl GST) for a maximum of 15 students in a group.
( If the classes are larger -max 30 students - we recommend adding an extra session 3 (studio day) for a second group at a day rate of $1000)

Kate and Charmaine Gorman
Sisters Kate and Charmaine Gorman have been in the entertainment industry all their lives. Hailing from an acting family they grew up under a dressing room table, learning their craft from some of the best in the business. Both started as child actors in lead roles in children's television series. Further training internationally and long and rewarding careers in the industry followed. Both women continue working in TV, film and theatre as performers, directors, writers and producers.
Passionate about passing on craft and knowledge (as their Dad, Reg Gorman always said, "if you want to thank me for teaching you, teach someone else") they have now created a place to do just that.
Kate and Charmaine bring a unique perspective to a young actor's journey, being child actors themselves who navigated the tricky path to have successful careers as adults, and being mothers of working child actors. This gives them an insight into what emerging actors need to make it in the industry, but also how to navigate the business and thrive as humans while on this worthy pursuit of artistry. Whether the end result is a lifelong career in theatre, a star on the Walk of Fame or something else entirely, the journey is one of gaining confidence, communication skills, empathy and self discovery that will serve you well in any walk of life.
In addition to the Studio the Gorman sisters together with Kate’s daughter Olivia Deeble, have their own production company Baby Banksia, which recently produced the award winning teen drama television series More Than This, which was streamed on Paramount+.
